Tracey became Priest in Charge in January 2022 and was called in September 2023 to be the next rector of Church of the Holy Family. Prior to Holy Family, she served as an interim assistant rector at St. James in Hendersonville for eleven months during their period of transition. Tracey’s first career was as a regulatory economist and business analyst in the telecommunications industry. In addition to a Master of Divinity degree from Virginia Theological Seminary, she holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the George Washington University and a Master of Arts degree in economics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Tracey grew up on the outskirts of Baltimore and received her love of liturgy and sacrament from the large Roman Catholic parish in which she was raised. She and her husband began attending the Episcopal Church as their family grew. It was there that she developed an appreciation of Anglican theology and tradition and began to study scripture. She entered seminary in 2007 and was ordained as an Episcopal priest in 2011. After ordination, she taught religion to 5th and 6th graders at St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes School (an Episcopal school) in Alexandria, Virginia. For five and half years, she served as an associate rector at St. Francis in Great Falls, Virginia. After living in Northern Virginia for thirty years, and raising their family, Tracey and her husband David moved to the Hendersonville/Etowah/Mills River area in June 2020. In her free time, she enjoys digital photography and “old stuff” (she has a professional certificate in Historic Preservation): local history, old buildings, graveyards, and Civil War sites. Tracey and David love to travel and explore European cities; but when in Western North Carolina, they are content with binging on Netflix; watching the sun set over the Blue Ridge Mountains; sampling local brews and listening to local musicians; and hiking and hanging out with their two rescue dogs, Pepper and Finnoula.
